Holub architekti, a design-build studio, is a successful team of architects specializing in workspace design, particularly IT company offices. Their impressive client list includes notable names like Attaccama, Avast, and Commerzbank, and two of their projects have even won the prestigious Czech IT Offices of the Year award.
The studio already had a website, but it only featured contact details and an Instagram feed. A revamp was in order, as the business needed a comprehensive portfolio to enhance tender proposals.

Website brief
The studio already had an existing logo and a clear vision for their preferred colors and fonts. They also provided their own website design, based on stunning photographs of their completed projects, and consulted it with a UX designer before starting development.
Interestingly, it turned out that Tomáš Holub, the studio’s lead architect, holds a UX certificate from the Nielsen Norman Group, a leader in user experience and design. I was quite relieved to discover this before trying to educate him on what a ‘wireframe’ was. Yup – always Google your clients!

Copywriting
When I work on websites, clients typically provide website copy – in this case, however, I took on copywriting responsibilities, with the client editing the texts at their discretion.
My research began with gathering all existing marketing materials and external mentions of the studio’s projects. This was followed by three hour-long calls with Tomáš, discussing details missing from the provided materials and delving into his business and career. How does one get to designing office spaces for Avast?
Finally, I conducted light research on the websites of other architects. Just to get an idea of what sort of content design-build studios generally include on their websites and ensure our website content was competitive and relevant.
Visitor tracking and social media
The original website featured the client’s Instagram feed and we decided to keep it. The About page now includes twelve most recent Instagram posts, automatically synced with the client’s IG account.
Additionally, I also set up Google Analytics for the purposes of detailed visitor tracking and website analysis.

Website development and feedback
After the final design was approved, I developed the front page and asked the client for feedback. I went on to develop the rest of the website, and following several iterations and feedback sessions, the website was ready for launch.
Post launch
Launching a website often requires a bit of courage. Do you know, however, the one thing that forces you to stop overthinking every word and just put the website out there?
When someone asks to see the website. Ideally your own (potential) client.
This was the case of holub architekti. They received a call from a lead and the website was up and running on the same day.
The client maintains the website independently. To make the process as easy as possible, I created a set of video tutorials covering everything from content editing to website maintenance.
